Born in Seattle, Washington, Benjamin credits his strong attachment to the natural world to growing up in the Northwest. He was also fortunate enough early in life to have multiple opportunities to travel around the world visiting locations throughout North and South America, Europe, and Asia before graduating high school. These experiences left him in awe not only of the world's amazing variety of natural landscapes and wildlife, but also with a new found curiosity for its very diverse cultures.
Benjamin continued traveling, taking numerous trips throughout college and after graduating, using each as an opportunity to learn about new regions and to hone his photographic techniques. His photographs have been published in books and won awards from several institutions including the University of Denver and Canon USA.
I find myself frequently in awe of the world around me, from natural wonders to marvels of human creativity. It never ceases to amaze me how things which are often taken for granted or over looked can be just as beautiful and fascinating as the grand, extravagant, and praised. The photographs I take reflect my vision of the magic I see and feel in the world.
Even before I first picked up a camera, I had observed both these sorts of every day and extra ordinary beauty. They’ve stayed with me as cherished memories but I never felt that I had a truly effective way of sharing these experiences. After my first introduction to photography I knew I had found a medium through which I could communicate freely and fully.
This gallery is devoted to an overall theme of the beauty I’ve found in the world and my goal, ultimately, is to do justice to the unique nature of all my subjects both great and small. I hope that after visiting you will leave with some of the same sense of awe that I felt in the moment the photograph was taken.
